Man, I'm not of the same experiences as these characters, but I could relate so hard to what they were going through. I learned a lot, related a lot, and, overall, I'm extremely happy this game exists and more from this universe will be coming out soon :3
I appreciate how this game handles Amira being too hard on herself, and especially how Kenta is able to help. I've been in states like Amira ends up in, getting caught in a loop of self-negativity that spirals worse and worse. In some ways it's hard seeing such experiences reflected back at me, but more than that it feels good to be understood. Even more than that, it makes me happy seeing Kenta support Amira, which reminds me of the people in my life who support me. Thank you for handling something so personal and difficult so well.
Thank you so much for playing and for your kind comment! We make our games for gamers like you - those who know what our characters feel like and deserve to feel seen and understood in stories. I’m so happy to hear you have people who support you and that our game resonated with you. <3 Please tell a friend!
Really sweet, well-written vignette with wonderful characters that are so fleshed out they seem real! I adore the dedication and detail to cultural accuracy, especially the text conversations Jessica has with her mother in Korean. A nice blend of humor and emotional beats, very much looking forward to playing Call me Cera when it comes out :3 Good work, Toadhouse team!
This is lovely, I really want to applaud the thoughtfulness and care for the audience that shows up in things like the content warnings and accessibility options. Also just really well written and affecting. Thank you!
This was so sweet! I got a little misty when Jessica and Amira made up at the end, ngl. :') I loooved the UI design - I've been trying to update my own Ren'py game, and it has made me appreciate a good UI so much more. Also a big fan of the backgrounds. Nothing wrong with the classic "stock photo run through an oil paint filter" VN look, but it was really cool to see something more distinctive. And the little animated trailer for Call Me Cera at the end, wow! Never seen anything like that in a game before, it was so cool. Just wishlisted it on Steam!
I was going to say this on twitter but I think this is a better place:
when the final scene started - just after Jessica and Amira are reunited - I started to cry so much and couldn't stop until after the credits showed up.
I don't know exactly why this happened, but I thank you so much for this experience not just in storytelling but in widening lots of points of my worldview.
This was really inspiring. I hope I can tell meaningful stories such as this one someday.
It's a false positive. If you follow the instructions above, you'll be able to work around most of the anti-virus overreacting. The game is safe and does not contain a trojan. Apologies for the inconvenience and any scare you might have had.
Makes me wish I had a food truck like this near me! Lovely story, I enjoyed hearing each character's motivations from their own perspectives. Plenty of wisdom in here. Bravo!
Maybe art style isn't my favourite (though I love these "chalk" backgrounds), maybe it feels a bit too cutesy at times, but I really enjoyed my first playthrough, even though it was cut short by a "wrong turn" somewhere. Have to try again.
Also, love how texts from Jess' mum are actually in Korean.
A lovely game overall. Well-researched with lots of accurate representation that doesn't feel forced because of the world-building. The choices are many and you feel that they make an impact on the ending. And there are three of them, all distinct! The art is beautiful. I can't wait for Call Me Cera!
I will never not take the opportunity to say how well researched this game is. It is incredible. And it taught me so much about Ramadan! And most importantly narrative is really great!!
Amazing game! definitely going to recommend it to all my friends. I love the representation of different races, religions, and sexualities show just in this small chunk. amazing game!
What a lovely and wholesome experience! I love how you created such a cozy feel for a visual novel - it really made that one particular scene scare me a bit. I relate too much to Amira for my own good, I think. Thank you for making this game!
